A few weeks ago, I began experiencing pain/burning along the bottoms of my feet. I got ordinary arch supports for my shoes and things improved. I saw my doctor last week and he said that I have spurs on the side of my feet (outer edge, near big toe) and had a metatarsal injury (not a fracture) that could likely be corrected with the use of metatarsal pads inserted in the shoe. I’m using the pads, but I’ve been having increased pain in my knees and back, and the pain in my feet is back.
I know it may take some time to adjust to the shoe inserts, but my I am going on vacation next week–it was supposed to be a very active vacation. I realize I will have to change that a bit, but I’m concerned about being this uncomfortable. There’s really no way to avoid a decent amount of walking every day. Any advice to decrease the discomfort (aside from OTC pain relievers and icing)? And any insight on whether I am actually doing any damage if I engage in moderate activity while having pain?

I have trouble finding shoes sometimes because my heels are very narrow. I found a pair of shoes I like but they give me blisters when I run. The shoes aren’t exactly new so they don’t need to be broken in. I was wondering if there was an insert or something I could put in my shoes to stop my feet from blistering when I run?

My 16 year old son was diagnosed recently with one leg 3 cm longer than the other. This has never been noticed before and is now quite obvious 9hence having it looked at). He really isn’t thrilled with a lifetime of having to use shoe inserts and we are afraid it may get worse as he is still growing. What are his options? Prefer only medical professionals or others with first hand knowledge answer.

walking on toes at age 27? How to deal?
I am 27 years old and have been told that I walk on my toes. How do I deal with this? I have walked like this my whole life. Is there a shoe insert or something along those lines that I can buy? I have tried thinking about walking "heal first", but as soon as I stop thinking about it, my walk returns to toe.

My feet have always hurt on the bottom of my feet. I’ve bought Nike Shox and those help a little. I’ve also used gel inserts of many different forms and no success. I need to fix the problem since I work on hard surfaces pretty much all day.

When I step on my left foot it hurts on my ankle and stops hurting when I lift or am sitting down. Would an over the counter brace help to fuse the fracture of would I need to see my podiatrist? I had problems with the left foot in the past and was diagnosed with Morton’s Neuroma and wear an thin hard insert in my shoe all the time.

My great-grandmother was a ballet dancer, which I think may have influenced the way our family walks. We all walk toe-to-heel. My mother and I recently invested in some shoe inserts which have forced us to walk heel-to-toe.

I had meniscus surgery 2 years ago on right knee; still have pain in that area. Went thru PT several times, etc. Have many different kinds of shoe inserts, PowerStep helps but I can only wear certain shoes. Ice helps best, heat feels good but doesn’t help. I recenty purchased a pair of casual shoes that came with Dr Scholls gel insoles already in the heel of the shoe. After 2 weeks of wearing them I now have heels that are so painful that I can’t hardly touch them. I have never had pain with my feet like I do now! I was going to buy some of the Dr. Scholl’s Arch support inserts for my converse shoes. However, I noticed that the smallest size they had in store was a size 6… but I’m a women’s size 5!
What could I do?
